13When Jesus arrived in the villages of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “What are people saying about who the Son of Man is?”

14They replied, “Some think he is John the Baptizer, some say Elijah, some Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”

15He pressed them, “And how about you? Who do you say I am?”

16Simon Peter said, “You’re the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

~Matthew 16:13-16 The Message

Your answer could change everything!  As Christians we learn many different names of God.  He is Love, Counselor, Father, Creator, Savior, Redeemer, Friend, Comforter, Faithful, Sovereign, Holy, Awesome, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Alpha, Omega.  Studying the Old Testament we learn He Is, I Am…Period.  In the New Testament He is the Word made flesh…Logos.  In Revelations we learn He is the Groom and we are the Bride.  In life, though, that’s where we experience all of those Names.  In the mess of toys, crumbs, dust, dog hair, dirt, diapers, suckers, markers, clothes, shoes, and stains.  In the shame of last night’s decisions wetting the morning floor.  In the exhausted nights that offer no sleep.  In the busy days that offer no respite.  In the below zero conditions of the check book.  In the celebrations of new life.  In the mourning of a passing one.  In the simple pleasures of coffee and candles and friendships.  In the heartache of alone-ness and betrayal.  In the sun.  In the shade.  On the porch or on the steps.  In the cold and in the heat.  Those are the places I have really known the Name of God.

This question will always be personal.  And, yes, there is a right and wrong answer here.  He has many Names, but there are things and names He Is not!  What you answer about who He is will determine your steps, your beliefs, your decisions, your convictions, your hopes, your dreams, your goals, your motivations, and who you are.  This is the most important question you have to answer before any others are asked.  Do you believe in God?  What do you believe about Him?  What do you think He’s like?  Where did you get your ideas about God?  If your ideas about God do not line up with the Bible, are you willing to seek out Who He really is?  Are you willing to be wrong in your assumptions in order to find the Truth?  Are you willing to know the simplicity of The Way…willing to accept it…willing to walk it?  For God, He is Great, Majestic, Holy, Amazing, and Awesome!  He is more than we can grasp or imagine!  But, He offers a narrow – simple Way to walk with Him.  Would you be willing to not strive or work or do in order to let Him be God instead of you?

Who do YOU say He Is?

**I am doing I Peter 3:15 along with others in my Church Family.  We are making a plan to be ready to share at any time God calls us to do so.  We are starting with the “formula” Me, You, God, You.  I encourage everyone to be ready, always, with the Good News!  Will you join us in preparing to be used by God?  If you want more information or background to this, go to http://www.meridianpointchurch.com/sermons.php
