Piles of receipts still sit waiting to be entered into the computer. Bathrooms and floors still lie waiting for someone to make them clean. A Prayer Room to be ready by tomorrow still sits undone, and yesterday I become undone just like all of that! How quickly I forget!
This life will have things left waiting and undone until we leave it for the next; only as we get ready to enter into Perfect Communion (Paradise) with Him, will all be finished.
I find I feel like giving thanks when the gas gauge says full and after the bills are paid there’s actually still something left in the checking account, but oh the weakness in me when neither of those things are true! How I slammed doors and cried tears and spoke quick and fierce yesterday when it all stacked up. In my head I heard, “echaristeo”, but instead of opening wide and shouting them out, I pursed my lips and clenched my teeth and asked God “why” once again. God…is…so…good.
In my moment of despair, God was there. In my blindness I forgot to see My Shield About Me:
1 LORD, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.”
3 But you, LORD, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
Psalm 3 NIV
All of the “undone’s” that I saw closing in on me – that I thought were overtaking me – were kept at more of a distance than I perceived. The receipts, the dirt, the room, the debt, the lack – these have no hold on me.
1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5 NIV
9 The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
10 Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2
Father, please strengthen me. Give me what I do not have within myself. You are all I need…convince my heart of this Truth that I know. Shield my life, my thoughts, my spirit, my peace, my joy, my…feelings. I am more than a conquerer in You, and You are greater than he who is in the world. You make everything glorious, and I am Yours! Help me to remember…
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you…8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 10
